ABOUT CONTRARY
Contrary is a family of boats that started out with Judy Contrary, a 1941 Chesapeake 20 that we are the current caretakers of. Our home, Genny Contrary, we bought in September 2019. A Gulfstar 41, she's been quiet a big project over the past two years.
Abandoned due to health issues at the end of big refit twelve years ago, she was not in good shape. Her chain plates leaked, rotting the cabin soles and much of the cabinetry. All of the previous owner's hard work had rotted away (including all new interior veneers). On Captain Q's rating system, she would not have even scored a 10 — since she had a few holes drilled into her to drain her after they found her flooded. Her Perkins 4108 engine was rebuilt at the start of those twelve years, but we are planning on swapping it out for an all electric propulsion system.
